Amolatar | The Resident District Commissioner of Amolatar has ordered the arrest of Orech Solomon and Akinyi Eunice.
The pair are accused of torturing their son by pouring a burning jerrican over his body.
According to reports, the incident occurred on July 21 at Amolatar headquarters B, Inomo Ward, Amolatar town council.
Reports indicate that Orech Solomon, the stepfather of the victim, Masika Fred, 10, locked the child inside and began beating him before igniting the jerrican and pouring it over his body.
A passerby intervened and rescued the boy, who was subsequently taken to the residence of the LC1 chairperson, Muge Tom.
On Tuesday, a team from the Human Rights Commission, Amolatar branch, led by Opok Dan, visited the boy at the LC1’s home, where he was transported to the office of the Resident District Commissioner.
The boy was later taken to Amolatar Central Police Station, where a case of torture was officially registered under SD REF 62/20/02026.
A medical form was issued, and he was subsequently taken to Amolatar Health Center IV for medical treatment.
Amolatar RDC Francis Okello Odoki Rwotlonyo, has instructed the police to arrest the couple so they can face legal consequences promptly.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that both the boy’s mother and stepfather have since fled their home.
