Police in Kiryandongo district are currently holding three prime suspects in connection with the murder of one Benard Agiyo, in Kaduku 2 village, Kigumba sub-county last Saturday.
The three suspects are identified as Fambe Stella, Opoma Richard, and Amiku Fastus. They are alleged to have beaten Agiyo for being caught stealing cattle, according to the Albertine Regional Police PRO APS Julius Allan Hakiza
ASP Hakiza said that the three suspects are in police custody as the investigations into the matter continue.
He calls the public to provide them with more information about the murder to help police with the investigation.
He, however, warned members of the general public against taking the law into their own hands by beating crime suspects to death, noting that such acts fail police efforts to handle criminal cases.
“Avoid killing the suspect because the moment you kill, you will have killed the investigation,” he advised.
