Opinion: Lango strongly supports Gen Muhoozi

The Muhoozi Army launch was a resounding and spectacular success, greeted with electrifying enthusiasm by the large number of young people who attended.

Oyam – August 11, 2022: Last Saturday, a cross-section of elected and opinion leaders launched the Muhoozi Army Chapter of the Lango sub-region in Lira City. The Honorable Judith Alyek, Kole District woman MP and Chairperson of the Lango Parliamentary Group, was the Guest of Honor. Hon Judith is also running for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, succeeding the late Rt Hon Jacob Oulanyah.

The Muhoozi Army is a spontaneous grassroots movement of young, savvy, and forward-thinking Ugandans who see Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the ideal candidate to lead the national political transition from the revolutionary bush war freedom fighters to Gen Muhoozi’s current generation of enlightened modern Ugandans.

The NRM party represents progressive change. The party was the midwife of today’s stable, peaceful, and prosperous Uganda, and it will be in charge of transitioning Uganda to a modern, middle-income, and stable Uganda, acting as a historical buffer in Africa.

The Muhoozi Army launch was a resounding and spectacular success, greeted with electrifying enthusiasm by the large number of young people who attended. Even cynics can see that Gen Muhoozi is the most electable candidate in any presidential election.

He has the credentials, the pedigree, and the well-oiled NRM party machine behind him. The work of the NRM on-the-ground campaign team, including myself, has been simplified. Candidate Muhoozi is a political hotcake. The political market is hungry for him.

Meanwhile, the few beleaguered opposition activists were “shocked and awed” by the massive outpouring of support for Gen Muhoozi. They made a few snide and cynical tribalistic remarks, envious of the apparent ease with which support for Gen Muhoozi is spreading like wildfire in the Lango sub-region.

The general public rolled their eyes and mostly ignored the opposition’s cynicism. It’s not a good idea to sell meat if you’re a political leper. Ishaa Otto Amiza, the self-appointed spokesperson for this group and the red card chairman for the Lango sub-region, even wrote a poorly worded op-ed piece for TND News. When you read it, you can tell there isn’t much fire left in the belly.

The piece is completely devoid of any solid or original thought. The gormless opposition, unable to articulate issues that speak to the public’s pressing needs, resorts to beating the hate drum. Unfortunately for them, Uganda in 2022, is marching to a different drumbeat.

The train that is Project Muhoozi has left the station. God willing, Gen Muhoozi will be the next president. According to Patrick Awongo Ogwal, Chairman of Muhoozi Army for Lango sub-region, even the sky is not the limit for Gen Muhoozi. The outpouring of support for Project Muhoozi is unstoppable.
