Amolatar leaders meet beneficiaries of the district quota system

Amolatar district local government leaders have engaged the district quota system beneficiaries ahead of August intake for Universities and other higher institutions of learning. 

The July 13 meeting sets pace for the beneficiaries and families whose children were selected in a verification process.

The meeting was also used for guidance and counselling of the beneficiaries.

Morrish Ogwal Omara, the district chairperson, in a speech, said as a district, they will ensure they follow up the students to various campuses to assess their education progress.

“They (the beneficiaries) will no longer carry individual badges but rather for the entire district,” he said.

He advised students to take their education seriously while always remembering their backgrounds.

Sarah Tyan, Assistant Resident District Commissioner, urged the beneficiaries to “have self-control as they join the next stage”, advising them to be patriotic citizens as they are already benefiting from the government.

Amolatar District Education Officer, Obote Peter urged the beneficiaries to focus on their academics once they get to their different Universities.

Susan Acio Ayura, the Principal Assistant Secretary of Amolatar, urged the parents of the selected students to provide all the basic necessities for the students mostly the girl child because they are very vulnerable when it comes to life at the University to guard against persuasion from luxurious men who roam around the different universities in the Country.

The students also expressed their utmost gratitude for being enrolled under the District Quota System throwing votes of thanks to the government for this great opportunity.

Amolatar district presented six students among them are Okwany Solomon, Soroti University, Akullo Juliet, Kyambogo University; Neo Bonny, Gulu University.

Others are Opok Ronald, Lira University, Ojok Abel, Makerere University and Viko Felister, Kyambogo University.
