Rebecca Amoding-Rukidi has stepped into the public spotlight following the selection of her husband, Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma, as the newly elected King of Tooro, bringing attention to the woman expected to play an important role in the kingdom’s new chapter.

Rebecca, who comes from the Teso sub-region in eastern Uganda, is an experienced human resource and organisational development professional with a background spanning several major institutions in Uganda and internationally.

She is currently serving as the Human Resource Manager at Vivo Energy Uganda, where she has been involved in leadership development, talent management and workplace organisation.

Her professional journey has seen her work in different sectors, including corporate organisations, healthcare institutions and humanitarian agencies, giving her extensive experience in managing people and developing teams.

Before joining Vivo Energy Uganda, Rebecca held positions at several recognised organisations, including the United Nations World Food Programme, Unilever and Britania Allied Industries Limited.

She has also worked with Case Medical Centres and SAS Clinics, where she gained additional experience in human resource management and organisational development.

Her career has focused on areas such as employee development, leadership coaching, building effective teams and creating inclusive working environments.

Rebecca’s professional profile highlights her passion for mentorship and supporting the growth of individuals within organisations.

She holds a master’s degree in management studies with a specialisation in human resource management, strengthening her expertise in leadership and workforce development.

She also holds a postgraduate diploma in management studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Education, qualifications that have contributed to her professional growth.

Rebecca is also associated with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a global professional body focused on human resource and people development.

Her rise into the royal spotlight follows the selection of her husband, Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma, as the successor to the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

The selection of Edward came after the Babiito Royal Clan continued the succession process following the death of King Oyo, whose passing created a new transition period for Tooro Kingdom.

Edward was selected after Prince George Desmond Kamurasi, who had earlier emerged as the preferred candidate of the succession committee, reportedly declined the throne.

The new king brings his own background and experience into the royal institution, having previously worked as a television presenter at Uganda Broadcasting Corporation.

Edward is the son of the late Prince Christopher Paul Kijanangoma and a grandson of King George David Rukidi Kamurasi III, connecting him directly to the royal lineage of Tooro.

With her husband taking on the responsibilities of leading the kingdom, Rebecca is expected to assume a more visible public role among the people of Tooro.

As queen consort, she will likely be involved in cultural activities, community engagements and initiatives connected to the welfare and development of the kingdom.
