Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID) Head of Secretariat Matthew Bagonza has reportedly been detained at Nateete Police Station after being arrested by security operatives.

Bagonza, who serves as an aide to PACEID chairman Odrek Rwabwogo, was reportedly picked up and later taken to the police station, according to sources.

The circumstances surrounding his arrest remain unclear, with authorities yet to publicly provide details about the allegations against him.

Sources indicate that Bagonza was taken to Nateete Police Station where he remains in custody as investigations continue.

The arrest has attracted public attention because of Bagonza’s close working relationship with Odrek Rwabwogo, a prominent businessman and chairman of PACEID.

Rwabwogo, who is also President Yoweri Museveni’s son-in-law, has been leading efforts through PACEID to promote Uganda’s exports, industrial development and private sector growth.

Bagonza serves as the head of the PACEID secretariat, coordinating activities and supporting the implementation of the committee’s programmes.

Reports indicate that his detention followed an operation involving security agencies linked to Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces.
