Friends of Jane Frances Acilo from Madrid, Spain, have asked the people of Oyam district to vote for the “beautiful Jane.”
These friends announced at Oyam Boma Grounds in Oyam town council that they have known Acilo for years.
Acilo was duly nominated on October 23 to contest for the Oyam District Woman MP seat in 2026.
A frontrunner for the seat, Acilo spoke to thousands who turned up at Oyam Boma Grounds in the afternoon.
At Boma Grounds, she said the women of Oyam are shouldering many problems, something she promised to deal with through women’s economic empowerment initiatives.
“I am standing as a leader for the people of Oyam. This is our time as NRM after giving others (UPC) a chance for 15 years,” she said.
For development and service delivery to be enjoyed in the district, Jane asked the people of Oyam to vote for her and President Yoweri Museveni in 2026.
Her slogan of NyayoLonyoIcingOtedero (Creating grassroots income) currently resonates highly and affectionately with the people, irrespective of age.
In achieving her manifesto, Acilo is promising to support and empower households with a major focus on skill-based education, new farming technology, women and youth empowerment and leadership development.
Minister of State for Northern Uganda, Dr Kenneth Olusegun Omona, called on the people of Oyam to vote for Acilo and all the NRM party candidates.
Omona, speaking as a Chief Guest at Acilo’s rally, emphasised the need for Oyam to vote for the ruling party, saying the area is still recovering from a decade-long period of insurgency.
He announced that the government has secured money to promote coffee growing in Oyam and other districts in the region.
According to Minister Omona, NUSAF IV will soon be rolled out, with funding now ready for approval next week.
