These people were not only influential, but their public status was a source of pride for Acholi.
While many Acholi passed away in 2024, tndNews looks at a few today.
Dr. Cyprian Opira. He was the Executive Director at St. Mary Hospital Lacor.
He died on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, around 12:40 p.m. at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala.
Dr. Samuel Ocora served as the acting veterinary officer for the Amuru district.
He died on January 25, 2024, at approximately 10:20 p.m., at the Kololo police post in Akee village, Lakang sub-county, Amuru district.
Major Opiyo Patrick Awany. He was a UPDF soldier assigned to Somalia.
He was killed in an attack by Alshabab terrorists on July 7, 2024.
Okoya Severino Kiberu died July 13, 2024. Okoya was the father of Alice Auma Lakwena, a former Holy Spirit Movement rebel leader.
He died at his home in Awere cell, Gulu City.
Rwot Peter Oola Ojigi. He was the chief of the Aloko Lum chiefdom in Nowya district.
He died on February 4, 2024, at St. Mary Hospital Lacor from complications of diabetes and Hepatitis B disease.
