Church commends Lira City MP Dr. Aceng for closeness with parishioners

Lira | Father Constantine Opio, parish priest of Ngetta Catholic Parish, expressed gratitude to the community for its support during Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, Member of Parliament for Lira City,’ recent visit.

Father Opio made this statement during his sermon at Ngetta Catholic Parish on Sunday, January 5, 2025. He stated that Dr. Aceng’s visit was especially significant because it coincided with ongoing efforts to improve parishioners’ well-being.

The Man of God underscored the importance of collaboration between the parish and local government, asserting that such partnerships are essential for community development.

He added that Dr. Aceng’s presence not only instills hope but also strengthens the commitment to improving the living conditions of local residents.

Opio stated that the relationship between the parish and the government has resulted in positive outcomes, particularly in addressing community needs, and expressed hope that continued dialogue and cooperation would facilitate further progress in the sub-region, particularly in healthcare and education.

Furthermore, the church encouraged parishioners to participate actively in community initiatives, which are critical for fostering unity and advancement.

In order to guarantee that everyone in the community can benefit from development, the priest emphasized the significance of teamwork.

Father Bosco Ocak, another key figure in the parish, echoed these commitments, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with Dr. Aceng in addressing the parish’s challenges.

Ocak urged the congregation to maintain their faith and support community-building initiatives.

Dr. Aceng’s visit was regarded as a significant event for Ngetta Catholic Parish, reinforcing the church’s relationship with the local government while inspiring hope for a brighter future.

Daniel Bua, the secretary of Ngetta Catholic Parish, spoke to the congregation, emphasizing the importance of faith in the community.

Bua emphasized the critical need for the community to engage in meaningful discussions and activities that promote spiritual development, encouraging members to actively participate in church initiatives that can strengthen connections and deepen faith.

Dr. Aceng reaffirmed the church’s importance in people’s lives, particularly in Lira City, and encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast in their beliefs.

She emphasized that, particularly during difficult times, the church should serve as a source of strength and hope for the community.

Along with stressing the value of continued involvement and support within the church, Dr. Aceng urged members to positively impact the social and spiritual well-being of the community.

She expressed her commitment to ensuring that the church remains an integral part of the community’s life, fostering the growth of faith.

Dr. Aceng, who is set to retain her MP seat in 2026, recognized the importance of community collaboration in addressing various challenges, encouraging them to unite in purpose and work together to achieve shared goals.

Bonny Otucu, Lira City’s Assistant RCC, expressed gratitude for Minister Aceng’s efforts to help the local community.

On PDM, Otucu noted that beneficiaries are following all fund-related procedures.
