“Muhoozi is qualified to run for the position of president, and constitutionally, nothing bars him from running for this highest political office in the land,” Kakuru.

Lira – August 9, 2022: There are mixed reactions across the political divide in the Lango sub-region following the launch of Muhoozi Army last weekend.
Muhoozi Army is a structure that shall draw its strength largely from the NRM to mobilize politically for the first son whom many thinks could soon replace the father as head of state and commander in chief.
Talks about Lt. Gen Muhoozi, the current commander of land forces first made rounds both in the mainstream and social media but many were quick to thrash it, only for him to throw spanners in the work after he launched his countrywide birthday celebrations which have been seen as largely political.
“Muhoozi is our standby generator, he has a good reputation as a serving senior army officer and we are proposing that he should take leadership of this country when Gen Museveni retires,” David Kibirigye, the national chairman in charge of mobilization for Muhoozi said during the launch of Muhoozi Army Lango Chapter on Saturday.
According to Kibirigye, there is a common consensus among the young people majority of them that at some point, the Muhoozi’s father will age and his son is the most suitable replacement.
Asked by TND News senior correspondent Frank Oyugi how they intend to convince Ugandans opposed to this idea, who view it as taking Uganda back to a monarchy, Bob Kakuru, the national vice chairman of the Muhoozi Army defended that it is absurd that some Ugandans want to victimize Muhoozi basing on his status as the first son.
According to Kakuru, Muhoozi is qualified to run for the position of president, and constitutionally, nothing bars him from running for this highest political office in the land.

Patrick Awongo Ogwal, the regional coordinator of Muhoozi Army for Lango sub-region in his remarks, says in Muhoozi, Uganda has a chance to leverage its strength as an alternative to the generation transition of power and urged the young people to embrace and support this cause.

Meanwhile, Egole Emmy Lawrence, the City Resident Commissioner [RCC] of Lira in a biblical metaphor of the “Holy Trinity” said Gen Museveni is “God the father” Gen Muhoozi is “God the son” and the Holy Spirit is the masses whom he beckoned to welcome and support Muhoozi Army
In a dramatic twist of events, the function was usually blended by the presence of Apac district Chairman Odongo Asante who is a staunch Uganda People’s Congressman.
Dawned on a green army-like trouser and an army green t-shirt bearing Muhoozi’s picture, Odongo issued powerful statements in support of the Muhoozi Army Lango Chapter and says “it is where the future belongs”.
Judith Alyek is the Kole district Woman MP and the chairperson of Lango Parliamentary Group. In her remarks, Alyek observed that the Saturday activity was not any campaign of any sort and not to unveil Gen. Muhoozi as the next president, but said within NRM they are aware that at some point Gen Museveni will exit and there is a need for preparations for his replacement.
Alyek said it is a good move for the people of Lango sub-region to embrace Gen Muhoozi so that if he becomes a leader, the sub-region can benefit from development programs.
Kole Woman MP added that by solving the Rwanda – Uganda border conflicts, Muhoozi demonstrated the charisma of a solutions-oriented leader.
Meanwhile, those opposed to Muhoozi Army have been criticizing the organizers with some saying they are pushing this idea for the basic reasons of material gains.
But Patrick Rolex Akena Ogwal, a journalist at Radio Unity FM and also the spokesperson of Muhoozi Army Lango Chapter says they haven’t received any funding from the center and in any case, they are utilizing their resources.
