Muhoozi’s presidential ambition is surprising some but not those in his close circle.

Kampala – January 16, 2022: Lt. General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 2026 presidential project is hot on social media spaces.

His followers, known and unknown continue to defend his unofficial candidature for the presidency. They write in support and express adoration.

Muhoozi is the Commander of Land Forces, a group of national soldiers under the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF). He is a son to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

President Museveni has been in power since 1986. Sources in his NRM party say he will be fronted again in 2026.

By 2026 he will be 82 and the eldest active politician in Africa. What is not clear yet is if the President will voluntarily step down for his ambitious son.

We are also yet to know if the ruling NRM party members will endorse the First son to replace his dad, also their national chairman.

And with several questions without answers yet, a group of active youth are currently using social media (Twitter and Facebook) to sell and defend the First son’s political ambitions.

His ‘chief marketer or campaigner’, Balaam Barughara Ateenyi has had this for NUP Spokesperson and Nakawa West MP, Joel Ssenyonyi.

“Hon @JoelSsenyonyi Respect Our Principal Generator, Master, Supreme Leader & Incoming President @mkainerugaba. You stand a chance of becoming Kalangala RDC in his Great Government.”

Why did Balaam respond to Ssenyonyi? The latter had responded to a tweet from a verified Twitter account of Muhoozi, saying: “No military on earth can defeat UPDF! We are a people’s army and no one can defeat an army like ours! Longlive Operation Shujaa!”

Ssenyonyi retweeted: “Just grab your bottle #Osilike.”
