Uganda’s legal fraternity is mourning the death of prominent lawyer D.S Mubiru-Kalenge, a founding partner of Kalenge Bwanika Kisubi & Co Advocates.Mubiru-Kalenge passed away at Nakasero Hospital, according to an announcement from the law firm.
In a statement, the firm expressed deep sorrow over the death of its founding partner, describing his passing as a great loss to the firm and those who knew him.
“It is with profound sorrow and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Founding Partner, D.S Mubiru-Kalenge, who passed away today at Nakasero Hospital,” the firm said.
The firm added that his death was a loss that was difficult to take at the moment, before concluding its message with a prayer for his soul to rest in eternal peace.
News of his death has attracted tributes from members of the legal fraternity and other people who interacted with him during his long career.
Emmanuel Othini paid tribute to the late lawyer, describing him as “Senior Kakenga” and saying that he had nurtured many people both near and far.
Lawyer Isaac N. Mpanga also described Mubiru-Kalenge as a courtroom legend, praising his contribution to modern commercial law and specifically referring to the landmark AK Detergents v dfcu and others case.

He said the late lawyer had left behind important precedents for the next generation of lawyers.
