Miracle Centre Cathedral, Rubaga, lead pastor Robert Kayanja has responded to motivational speaker and political commentator Frank Gashumba following his Shs200 million challenge to pastors who claim to perform miracles.

Pastor Kayanja defended the miracles associated with his ministry, insisting that they are not fake but come from God. He said the Bible teaches that people must be born again, linking the Christian faith to the miracles believers experience.

“Our miracles are not fake. They are God-made. It’s biblical that you have to be born again to have them,” Kayanja said in response to the debate surrounding Gashumba’s challenge.

Gashumba recently challenged pastors, prophets and apostles who claim to possess miraculous powers to demonstrate their abilities publicly. He reportedly offered Shs200 million to any religious leader willing to prove their claims by healing a patient in an intensive care unit at a major hospital.

The challenge has attracted widespread attention, with Ugandans expressing different views about faith, healing and the responsibilities of religious leaders. Some people believe that pastors who publicly claim to heal the sick should be willing to demonstrate their abilities, while others argue that miracles cannot be demanded on command.

Pastor Kayanja is among Uganda’s well-known religious leaders, and his Miracle Centre Cathedral in Rubaga regularly attracts worshippers for prayer services and other church activities. His response has added a new dimension to the discussion about the place of miracles in Christian ministry.

Gashumba, who frequently comments on public affairs and challenges prominent personalities, has not yet been reported to have issued a further response to Kayanja’s remarks. It also remains unclear whether any pastor will formally accept the Shs200 million offer.
