Captain Ibrahim Kasule Sekitto, the Public Information Officer (PIO) of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) 5th Division, gave updates on developments in Karamojong and parts of the Acholi sub-region.

Speaking to the press on Monday, Captain Sekitto said at around 2:00 pm on September 29, two Karamojong warriors armed with bows and arrows were put out of action in Kasiri and Longtac areas, Kitgum district.

He noted that a total of 18 warriors from Karamoja and South Sudan have been put out of action since January.

At least 513 animals they had stolen have been recovered, he said.

The PIO added that the Division forces have registered tremendous success against the Karamojong warriors who come to rustle cattle in the areas of East Acholi, an area neighbouring Karamoja.

He also said the 5 Infantry Division Commander, Maj Gen Keith Katungi, has assured locals of the responsibility for security and protection against the warriors.
