State Minister for Local Government Justine Nameere has visited the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Secretariat in Naguru, where she publicly endorsed Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the 2031 presidential race.

The minister’s visit comes days after a public exchange involving her and supporters of Gen. Muhoozi following the circulation of videos that were described by some commentators as edited and capable of creating an impression of disagreement between Nameere and the army general.

The videos generated discussions on social media, with different people attempting to interpret the relationship between Nameere and supporters of Gen. Muhoozi. Nameere and her supporters, however, maintained that the clips did not present the full context of what had taken place.

Against that background, Nameere travelled to the PLU offices in Naguru, where she met leaders and officials of the organisation. Her appearance provided an opportunity for her to publicly clarify her position and demonstrate her continued association with the movement.

During the engagement, Nameere formally added her support to the ongoing endorsement campaign for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba ahead of the 2031 presidential elections. Her endorsement places her among leaders and supporters who have publicly backed Muhoozi’s political ambitions.

According to information shared during the engagement, the endorsement books will be distributed across different wards in Masaka City. Supporters in the area are expected to participate in the exercise as PLU continues expanding its mobilisation activities.

The minister’s participation comes at a time when PLU has been carrying out endorsement activities in different parts of the country. Supporters of Gen. Muhoozi have been using the organisation’s structures to mobilise people and collect support ahead of the planned 2031 presidential contest.
