Amolatar district local government has allocated shs 1.5 billion in the 2026/2027 financial year on the payment of gratuity to retired public servants.

This development was announced last week by Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Geoffrey Vuciri, while addressing pensioners at the education hall.

Vuciri said the purpose of the meeting was to update pensioners on the new reforms in pension and gratuity management, as well as receive and address the challenges they face in processing their pension and gratuity payments.

He noted that the district is committed to ensuring that all pensioners receive their gratuity promptly upon retirement from public service.

To support pensioners with pending payment issues, Vuciri said the district’s human resource department has established a desk where pension-related concerns can be received and addressed in a timely manner.

The district principal human resource officer, Denis Oyuku, said the Human Capital Management System introduced by the Ministry of Public Service is expected to improve the timely processing of pension and gratuity payments.

Oyuku explained that pensioners who are still on the old system will be migrated to the new system to enable them to receive their monthly pension payments on time.

The vice chairperson of the Amolatar District Pensioners Association, James Atine, thanked the district leadership for organising the meeting.

He said the meeting provided pensioners with an opportunity to raise concerns affecting them.

Atine said some of the key issues raised included missing pension payments and delays in accessing pension and gratuity.

Pensioners, he noted, had resolved to hold two meetings annually to provide them with a platform to discuss and raise issues affecting their welfare.

Amolatar district currently has 328 pensioners on the government payroll, according to Andrew Ogwang, the district’s communication officer.
