Residents of Awelo sub-county in Amolatar district have expressed gratitude and recognition to Dr. Agness Atim Apea for her commitment to enhancing local economic resilience by providing seed capital to local savings groups.

Despite facing health challenges, Dr. Apea, Amolatar district woman MP, has consistently kept her promises to her constituents, inspiring many with her dedication.

During her recent visits, Dr. Apea expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the 650 village savings groups. She has provided them with savings boxes.

She praised the Abagi savings group’s outstanding performance and recognized their remarkable savings achievements. She emphasized her efforts by stating that she has given seed capital to 11 more savings groups in Odyedo.

Apea has also enabled Odyego communities to increase their financial independence and stability.

The woman MP openly expressed her concerns about the mismanagement of some resources channeled to the district, emphasizing the importance of accountability and prudent management among beneficiaries.

Transparency, she said, is critical to ensuring that the benefits of her initiatives are realized.

With an impressive total of shs4,453,000 saved and interest accrued totaling shs1,811,000, the group’s achievements serve as a beacon of motivation for those who are falling behind on their savings efforts.

In a strategic move aimed at sustainability, they decided to buy goats for all 44 members, increasing their savings by shs1,877,000.

Community members have expressed their strong support and gratitude for Dr. Apea’s significant contributions. Akena Oyari Kenneth stated that Apea truly deserves more terms in office, reflecting the widespread appreciation for her unwavering support.

Another community member, Okuju Yona, expressed gratitude for the provision of savings boxes, which he believes has enabled them to save more effectively and develop their resources.

Dr. Apea’s impact is felt not only in terms of savings, but also in her extensive philanthropic efforts.

In 2024, she generously donated over shs350 million to 685 savings groups, with plans to expand to the remaining sub-counties of Acii, Namasale town council, and Abeja soon.

She has supported local entrepreneurs by donating 30 rolls of Kitenge to an Odyedo tailoring group and contributing more than one million shillings for Adwala Primary School dormitory’s completion.
