Ben Anyama urges peace and unity after Adjumani LC5’s smooth transition

Now the former Adjumani district LC5 chairperson, Anyama Ben, has called for peace, unity, and continued development in the district after officially handing over office to the Chief Administrative Officer, Ochan Andrew James.

This was done inline with a directive from the Ministry of Local Government dated April 13, 2026, regarding the end of term and transition of local government leadership.

The handover communication was to the district chairpersons, city mayors, and municipal council mayors that their term of office expired on May 12, 2026.

The communication further directed all outgoing leaders to prepare comprehensive handover reports and surrender all government assets in their possession to the respective Chief Administrative Officers.

Anyama Ben said the exercise was aimed at promoting peace, unity, and continuity of service delivery in Adjumani district.

“Today, I’ve handed over office officially in the history of Adjumani since it started in 1997. No chairman has handed over like I’ve done. I handover officially because I want peace, I want unity, I want development.”

He added: “I also want to give opportunity for the next chairperson to come and pick from where I’ve left. I also want to cause unity in this district.”

Anyama noted that leadership transition should be conducted peacefully and transparently to strengthen governance and ensure that development programs continue without interruption.

During the ceremony, leaders from the Madi Cultural Institution commended the outgoing chairperson for his contribution towards the promotion and fulfillment of requirements leading to the gazettement of the Madi Cultural Institution.

The Prime Minister of the Institution, Amacha Goli, said the cultural leadership appreciates Anyama Ben for supporting the institution throughout the process.

“The Lopirigo of Madi, and all the cultural chiefs of Madi are very happy for honourable Anyama for ensuring that all the requirements leading to the gazettement of Madi Cultural Institution has been fulfilled. All the meetings leading to the promotion of the constitution of Madi were held in this district,” Goli said.

Amacha Goli further conveyed appreciation from the Lopirigo, who said the cultural institution remains grateful for the outgoing chairperson’s commitment and cooperation.

“And today, the Lopirigo said, he is happy that the honourable made sure all requirements of the institutions are fulfilled. May God bless him wherever he will go and we know he still has work to do at the central government which we pray he should not forget the people of Adjumani if any opportunity comes.”
