Amolatar: Infant dies after being attacked by a pig

In a heartbreaking incident that has left the community of Abeja sub-county in Amolatar district in shock, a three-month-old baby has tragically died after being attacked by a pig.

The disturbing event occurred on March 3 at around 10 a.m., when the child’s mother, Akullu Robina, placed her baby on the bed for a short time and went to another house to prepare breakfast.

It was raining at the time.

When Akullu returned to check on her child, she was horrified to discover that the pig had gotten into the house and had already attacked the infant at the door.

A neighbour, Ojok Tom reported to the scene immediately. He and Akullo found the pig had consumed significant portions of the baby, including the head and tongue.

In a desperate attempt to save the child, the family rushed the baby to Amai Hospital. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the infant was pronounced dead upon arrival at the facility.

In the wake of this tragic occurrence, the family made the painful decision to kill the pig responsible for the attack and subsequently burned its body.

Local authorities, including officers from the Abeja police station, visited the scene to investigate the incident further.

tndNews, Uganda could not get comments from the policing authorities in the district by press time.

This devastating event highlights the need for increased awareness surrounding animal safety and child supervision as communities grapple with the implications of such unexpected tragedies.
