Ichuli, days after ‘celebrating’ the assassination of Minister Engola, gets killed

Kampala, May 7, 2023: Unknown assassin on Saturday, May 6 assassinated Tusubilwa Ibrahim, also known as Isma Olaxes. The deceased was widely known as Jaja Ichuli.

In a statement released shortly after his murder, the Deputy PRO of Kampala Metropolitan, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said the territorial police at Kira Road is actively investigating a tragic shooting incident that occurred today at approximately 9:20 pm in Kyanja Central Zone.

According to Owoyesigyire, preliminary reports indicate that an unidentified gunman armed with an SMG opened fire on the vehicle, resulting in the fatal shooting of Tusubilwa Ibrahim, who was seated in the passenger seat at the time of the attack.

Ichuli, a few hours after the assassination of the State Minister for Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations also the Oyam North MP, Col. (Rtd) Okello Engola Macodwogo by his bodyguard of May 2, recorded a video of himself, ‘celebrating Engola’s death’.

By the time of his death, he was the President of the Uganda Bloggers’ Association, a position he was elected to in 2021.

“We understand the concerns and anxieties arising from this incident. We urge the residents to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities as we work towards resolving this case swiftly,” added PRO Luke.
