Ajuri MP Obua: “I’ve made my contributions to the best of my abilities”

Ajuri, Alebtong | The government chief whip of Uganda who doubles as the Ajuri County MP Denis Hamson Obua has conceded electoral defeat to UPC candidate.

Jalameso Fred of UPC in the Ajuri County MP election defeated Obua and other candidates in the hostly contested Legislative seat on January 15 and January 27.

According to the official declaration, Jalameso got 16,336 votes with Obua coming second with 15,568 votes.

Olobo Michael, Returning Officer of Amolatar district was dispatched to Alebtong to replace Adongo Jessica Ocen, who didn’t deliver the final result as was expected.

While there were five candidates: Molo Tom Jasper (Ind), Omara Stephen (Ind); Ongom EmmanuelOkwel (FDC), the race was narrowed to Obua and Jalameso.

Following the declaration of Jalameso as MP-elect of Ajuri County, Obua, who joined Parliament in 2006 as youth MP for northern Uganda, on January 28, Obua accepted the loss.

In a statement, Obua thanked the people of Ajuri County for granting him an opportunity to serve them as their area MP.

“I have served the people of Ajuri County and made my contribution to the best of my abilities,” he added.
