What killed Kiwanuka Douglas! Lira City’s Vintage Lounge bar attendant

On December 28, territorial Police in Lira City West Division started investigating the circumstances surrounding “a case of sudden death.”

The death occurred of Kiwanuka Douglas at about 3am at Kulu-Ahali Cell, Teso C Ward, Lira City West Division.

His death was reported to the police at the same time by Opio Isaac, 47, a resident of the same area.

In a statement on Sunday December 28, PRO for North Kyoga Region SP Jimmy Patrick Okema said Opio informed police that his neighbour, Kiwanuka Douglas, 37, a bar attendant at Vintage Lounge, was found lying dead in front of his rented room.

“Police officers responded promptly and visited the scene led by District CID Officer D/ASP Nansereko Phoebe, accompanied by a team of detectives and uniformed personnel,” SP Okema revealed.

He added that the scene was well documented by District SOCO, and the body was retrieved and conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary pending post-mortem examination.

Police forms 48A and PF 48B were duly filled, he said. “Items recovered from the scene include a blister pack of Coartem, Kabuti syrup, Fluvid syrup, packets of glucose, leftover food comprising matoke and beans, and an empty bottle of water.”

Preliminary findings indicate that the body was found lying in a supine position in front of the deceased’s rented room, partially dressed, with foam oozing from the mouth and nose.

According to neighbours and the management of Vintage Lounge, the deceased had been sick for the past two weeks before his death. The door to the deceased’s room was found open.

“Inquiries are ongoing as Police await the post-mortem report to establish the exact cause of death and guide further action,” SP Okema concluded.
