Tororo | One of the chief mobilizers for Shyam Tanna contesting to become MP Tororo Municipality against the incumbent, Apollo Yeri Ofwono has been found dead under mysterious circumstances.
Khalid Saleh Muyaga died in a corridor next to Capital Pub in Tororo Municipality in the morning of Friday, December 26, 2025, while mobilising women to meet Shyam Tanna later in the day.
According to sources privy to the death, Khalid who had been normal, suddenly collapsed and died.
When the news of Khalid’s sudden death spread in Tororo Municipality, residents gathered in small groups and spoke in hushed tones, linking the mysterious death to various threats made by one of the aspirants for the Tororo Municipality MP Seat.
This particular candidate has allegedly been captured on video attacking Shyams supporters promising that they will not reach January, 15, 2026, the election date.
There are also video recordings of him addressing NRM leaders in the municipality where he is assuring them that the “Muhindi” will not address any public rally. Yet it is against the Law to use sectarian language to incite violence.
A source in Shyam’s camp says many of them have been attacked, threatened and intimidated by the incumbent’s camp which police and security forces have downplayed or ignored.
Relatedly, there are known gangs of boys moving around town, defacing banners and posters of Shyam.
By the time of filing this story, police was yet to issue an official statement but a postmortem was being carried out to establish the exact cause of death while police said they are investigating.
