This was characterized by heavy rain, strong winds (gusty), and has left some people dead with properties destroyed, including the Kalangala Central police Station, the Cross’ statement reads.

The Society reveals it has dispatched a response team, which is already on ground conducting assessment.

They are now in Kifuufu headed to Kanyogoga, Bugala, Mweena, and then round up the assessment.

“So far, 3 people are feared dead – these include Hassan Waswa a barber, Geoffrey Sekiwere – a porter (Muzimbi) and a police officer at SGT level, whose details are not yet shared.”

Thirteen (13) casualties have been referred to Kalangala HCIV to receive treatment after sustaining injuries.

“Uganda Red Cross is in coordination with the Office of the Prime Minister, Hon. Lilian Aber to update the Government on developments and where support is required.”
