The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 5th Infantry Division has expressed deep regret over a fatal road crash that occurred on the morning of December 25, 2025.
The incident took place at approximately 7:00 a.m. in Riamriam Cell, Kalakal Ward, within Kiru Town Council, Abim district.
According to Captain Ibrahim Sekitto, the 5th Division Public Information Officer, the accident involved a UPDF vehicle, registration number H4DF 2383, and a motorcycle.
The collision resulted in the death of Rev. Achilla John Bosco, aged 56, who was riding the motorcycle at the time.
Captain Sekitto stated that the Division has instituted a thorough investigation to establish the precise circumstances of the fatal incident.
He assured the public that the findings will be communicated once the investigations are completed.
The driver of the killer UPDF vehicle has been arrested and the vehicle handed over to the Abim Police.
“The UPDF conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the Church, and the wider community. The Force confirmed it is working closely with the family and church leadership to ensure a dignified burial for the deceased.”
Emphasising its commitment to transparency and accountability, the UPDF has pledged to continue providing updates as the investigation progresses.
