Lira regional referral hospital sets Nov 14 for second community baraza

Lira Regional Referral Hospital has set November 14, 2025, for its second community baraza.

This event is a key strategy to handle health-related challenges.

The baraza will be convened under the theme: The role of the community in improving health service delivery.

It aims at strengthening the dialogue between the hospital and the community, enhancing accountability and promoting active public participation in improving healthcare services.

Earlier this year, similar engagement took place where communities shared their desired opinion, spelling out their challenges with possible solutions for a better health service.

Speaking to the media on October 27, Dr Andrew Odur, the hospital director said in the coming engagement, community members, leaders and stakeholders are expected to share ideas and feedback to foster better service delivery.

The hospital director also expects a stronger partnership for improved health outcomes.

“We want our community in Lango to know how best they can use the facility. Lango has been battling with diseases like sickle cell, malaria, pressure and many,” Dr Odur said.

According to Dr Odur, from the experience of the last baraza, a lot of improvements have taken shape at the facility. He said most of the challenges and advice given have been worked on.

As a regional hospital, the facility is expected to serve the 2.5 million Lango community as per the 2024 population census.

According to the hospital authority, this number is too much.
