Kampala | Health findings reveal that half of the people infected with yellow fever may die within 10 to 14 days when they enter the “toxic of deadly phase”.
According to the Ministry of Health, Uganda, yellow fever is “deadly yet preventable”.
“One injection gives your lifelong protection against yellow fever,” said the Ministry.
In a bid to reduce its load in Uganda, yellow fever vaccination campaign will be in Ankole sub-region from April 2 to 8 2024.
Districts of Buhweju, Bushenyi, Ibanda, Isingiro, Kazo, Kiruhura; Mbarara, Mbarara City, Mitooma, Ntungamo, Rubirizi; Rwampara and Sheema have been prioritised.
Signs and symptoms
After three to six days of infection, the following signs and symptoms usually show.
• Rapid onset of fever
• General body weakness
• Yellowing of the eyes
• Abdominal pain
• Fatigue
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea;
• Bleeding from any body openings.
