The Electoral Commission has announced that the nomination of candidates for the 2026 elections of Members of Parliament representing Special Interest Groups (SIGs) will take place on Wednesday, 22 and Thursday, 23 October 2025.
The process is in line with Section 8 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, Cap 177.
The categories for nomination include Older Persons, Persons with Disabilities, Workers, and Youths.
The nominations will be conducted at the Electoral Commission Headquarters, located at Plot 1-3/5 Seventh Street, Industrial Area, Kampala, starting from 9:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m. on each of the designated days.
According to the Commission, an aspiring candidate must be a Ugandan citizen, a registered voter, and must fulfill all nomination requirements as outlined in the official guidelines for each Special Interest Group.
Furthermore, aspiring candidates can also obtain copies of the nomination forms and guidelines from the Electoral Commission Headquarters or download them from the Commission’s official website.
The Electoral Commission has urged all stakeholders in the electoral process to take note of the nomination dates and ensure full compliance with the set requirements and procedures.
