The Dokolo District Security Committee (DSC) has resolved to reinstate patrols and operations to reduce escalating insecurity in the district.

Patrols and operations will be conducted extensively within the district and town council. Currently, peoples’ lives are threatened across different areas.

The resolutions were also approved by the village LC1 chairpersons of Dokolo town council, Dokolo district during a meeting at District Council Hall.

Barbra Akech, Residence District Commissioner for Dokolo, speaking during the meeting, said the police and soldiers will take the lead in the operation.

Akech acknowledged escalating insecurity in the district.

Lut Brain Wekisa, the Uganda People Defense Forces (UPDF) Commander attached to Atur Army Barack in Dokolo district, pledged total commitment and support against constant insecurity in the area.

He said wrongdoers will be ambushed in all the hot spots.

The LCIII chairperson of Dokolo Town Council appeals to the LC1 Chairpersons to desist from over drinking alcohol which can bring humiliation and shame to the community.

She highlighted that there is rampant insecurity within the Town Council which is threatening the lives and properties of the people.

Benard Opige, the Town Clerk of Dokolo Town Council appeals to LCI chairpersons to always have register books for people who are renting in their areas in order to reduce rampant criminal cases in the area.

Christopher Olobo, LCI chairperson of Acengryeny Cell, Isabella Ador, LCI of Otolimomole Cell, David Livingstone Ongeech, LCI of Akongo-odyek Cell, and Robert Adala of Ateri Cell, among others, said there is a lot of thefts and use of dangerous drugs.

These drugs, they say, are risking the lives of the community. They also blamed some police officers for the increasing insecurity because most of them have neglected their roles and responsibilities of protecting the citizens of Uganda.

Some of the resolutions include: DSC to meet the business community, engagement of LCI chairpersons in patrol operation, bridging the gap between local leaders and security.

Discos (or night clubs) should stop operations at midnight everyday and Dokolo Town Council GISO to profile and map all the gambling (sports betting outlets).
