Residents of Otuke West in Otuke district have urged the District Woman Member of Parliament, MP Susan Jolly Abeja, who also serves as Commissioner of Parliament, to “withdraw her reckless statement” about the MP Acon projects.

The statement was reportedly made recently at her home in Otuke district while meeting with her constituents. She claimed President Museveni stopped Otuke East Member of Parliament Julius Acon from continuing some of his projects in Otuke West.

On Monday, September 7, 2026, Otuke District Woman Member of Parliament Abeja met with some of her constituents and told them to reject all projects that Otuke East MP Acon Bua is implementing in Otuke West to improve people’s livelihoods.

These projects include distributing goats to more than 18 groups, distributing maize seeds, distributing simsim seeds, drilling boreholes, and supporting different savings groups.

Some of the people who attended the meeting, and who requested anonymity, said Commissioner of Parliament Abeja told them that President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta had informed her that Acon should stop taking most of his projects to Otuke West because he is not responsible for providing services in an area where he is not the leader.

All these people asked for their names to be protected, although they want the district Woman Member of Parliament to show them a letter from the President blocking Acon from continuing with his projects.

Moses Ogwal from Amela Cell, Awangi Ward in Okwang town council, who is the current coordinator of Love Mercy Projects, which belongs to MP Acon, said many families in Otuke West are now escaping poverty through this program.

“This is because in both the first and second seasons, we always receive free seeds from MP Acon, such as maize seeds, simsim, soybeans, and others.”

Molly Akello, another person now coordinating the Love Mercy Project in Otuke West, said that since Abeja was elected, she has always supported only a few people but has not provided positive things that can be attributed to the local community.

“Therefore, Abeja does not have any power to block Acon from proceeding with his projects in Otuke West,” she said, asking what Abeja has done for the people of Otuke apart from creating fake propaganda.

Akello said there is even one borehole that Acon drilled at her compound, and she is always drinking the water.

Ross Akello from Okere City urged MP Abeja to avoid being jealous of Acon. “If Abeja is not working, not all leaders have to be like her. Acon is a true leader who has been sent by God to help people.

“Therefore, as Otuke West voters, they condemned Abeja’s actions aimed at blocking Acon from helping many groups through the distribution of goats, drilling boreholes, and other initiatives.”

She added that Acon does not segregate anyone and many families are surviving because of him.

Esther Amoo from Abongower parish said that for many years they have been asking their Woman Member of Parliament to drill a borehole for them, but she has always told them that it is very costly to drill a new borehole and that it requires a government or NGO to do it.

“We were shocked to hear that Abeja is trying to block Acon from accessing his numerous projects in Otuke West.”

In 2023, some of the selected groups in Otuke West received over 1,750 goats from MP Acon alone. Other groups, including Nen Ber in Alangi, Wore Keni, and Obanga Ber, received about shs660,000 each.

According to MP Acon, about 25 boreholes have also been drilled in Otuke West before these distributions.

MP Acon told tndNews, Uganda, he has yet to receive an official letter from President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta blocking him from continuing to work on his projects in Otuke West.
