Elgon sub-region Entrepreneurs League delegates have thrown their weight behind Hon. Sanjay Tanna’s candidature for NRM National Entrepreneurs League Chairperson.
At Mbale’s Rosewood Hotel on Tuesday, 29 July, 2025, the delegates led by the Industrial City Division Mayor, Hon. Masaba Muhamood warmly welcomed Sanjay Tanna.
Masaba praised him for being an active employer of youths in the Eastern region.
As a symbolic gesture of acceptance, respect and unity, Mayor Masaba presented Hon. Tanna with traditional Bugisu cultural attire, signifying that Bugisu now embraces him as one of their own.
Mayor Masaba further pledged the region’s full support, praising Tanna for his proven ability to create employment opportunities across Bugisu and his direct access to the top leaders of Uganda and other countries.
The Mayor assured the people that by voting for Hon. Sanjay Tanna, they would be choosing a true bridge to effective service delivery.
This endorsement comes as no surprise. On Saturday, June 21, 2025 at El Shalom Hotel, Phillip Kakuru, who is also a contestant for Chairman NRM National Entrepreneurs’ League denied Mbale City NRM Entrepreneurs’ League Delegates. He calls them Tanna diehards.
Kakuru who was meeting Delegates from Elgon Zone that comprises 10 districts, 7 from Bugisu and 3 from Kapchorwa facilitated all delegates with shs300,000 except the five from Mbale City.
The endorsement also speaks to concerns raised by a number of delegates relating to the necessity of shifting this position to another region because since inception, it has been occupied by leaders from Western Uganda.
