Former Mawokota North Member of Parliament Hillary Kiyaga, popularly known as Dr Hilderman, has claimed that he won the parliamentary election against Amelia Kyambadde by more than 7,000 votes but his victory was later taken away.

Hilderman said he remains the legitimate representative of Mawokota North, insisting that the results announced after the election did not reflect the will of voters in the constituency.

According to the former MP, his claim is supported by information he says he received from Minister Haruna Kasolo, who serves as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairman for Buganda.

Hilderman alleged that Kasolo contacted him on the evening of voting day after the counting of votes and congratulated him for winning the election.

He claimed that Kasolo told him he had defeated Amelia Kyambadde with a margin of about 7,000 votes.

Hilderman further alleged that Kasolo advised him to remain calm and avoid confrontation because some opposition victories were allegedly being challenged elsewhere.

The former legislator claimed that Kasolo asked him to discourage NUP supporters from protesting, saying other election-related issues involving opposition candidates were also unfolding.

Hilderman alleged that the situation later changed and that the final outcome was altered in favour of Amelia Kyambadde.

He claimed that individuals within the political structures in Buganda wanted to punish him because of his decision to stand with fellow opposition leaders.

Hilderman specifically mentioned the case involving Teddy Nambooze, saying he refused to abandon her during the election period.

He alleged that this contributed to efforts that eventually affected his own political position.

The former MP made the claims during a meeting with a group of Catholic priests where he sought support and explained his position regarding the election outcome.

Hilderman said he believes his supporters were denied the victory they gave him and accused Kyambadde of benefiting from what he described as a stolen election.

He called on his supporters to continue demanding what they believe was the true outcome of the election.

Kyambadde, who reclaimed the Mawokota North seat, has rejected Hilderman’s accusations and warned him against making statements she considers defamatory.

The former Trade Minister has threatened legal action if Hilderman continues attacking her publicly.

Kyambadde accused Hilderman of disrespecting her despite the support she says she offered him before he became politically successful.

She has said she helped uplift him when he was struggling and questioned why he would now attack her after gaining political influence.

The accusations and counter-accusations between the two leaders have intensified tensions following their political contest for the Mawokota North parliamentary seat.

Both politicians continue to present different accounts of the election events, with Hilderman insisting his victory was taken away and Kyambadde maintaining her position as the rightful winner.
