Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, the Health Minister, has extended a generous contribution to pilgrims from northern Uganda traveling to Namugongo.
The pilgrims, numbering in the hundreds, will join millions of others in Namugongo shrines on June 3 to commemorate Uganda Martyrs’ Day 2025.
It is understood by tndNews that the Catholic pilgrims who spoke with Dr. Aceng, who is also the woman MP for Lira City, came from various northern Uganda dioceses.

On May 21, Dr Aceng offered shs1,000,000 for drinking water in Kibanjja, Kiryandongo District.
She also bought them 200 kg of rice for shs900,000 and 300 kg of beef for shs6,000,000.

An additional shs450,000 was provided for 1000 bottles of mineral water. Additionally, she provided items valued at shs2,000,000 to support priests, sisters, and deacons.
Dr. Aceng’s political office stated that the minister generously spent shs10,850,000 to assist pilgrims on their holy journeys.
First aid services have been scheduled in Matugga, as well as a brass band to usher pilgrims to Namugongo Martys’ shrines.
In the same way, Dr. Aceng supported the pilgrims last year. Her office stated that what she has done this year is a “continuation and getting closer to her people from anywhere in the region.”
