Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, the Lira City woman Member of Parliament and Minister of Health, has donated 50 bags of cement to Aduku Road Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Lira City East Division.
The donation was made on Saturday, March 1, 2025, during the Women’s International Day of Prayer, which the SDA Church celebrates annually around the world.
Minister Dr. Aceng’s representative, Emma Okite, presided over the handover ceremony. The donation was made to support the church’s ongoing development projects and to help the congregation overcome some of its challenges.
Over 1,000 women from within and afar gathered at the church to celebrate the day with the theme “Strengthen Our Lord.”

Emma Okite praised the Aduku Road SDA Church for its organization and commitment to putting God first in all of its activities as she handed over the cement.
She reiterated Minister Dr. Aceng’s promise to continue supporting church initiatives, emphasizing the role of faith-based organizations in community development.
Vicky Okii Rwoth, the Northern Uganda Women’s Field Ministries’ Director for SDA Church, thanked Lira City woman MP Dr. Aceng for the donation, describing it as a significant contribution to the church’s growth.
“This is a massive developmental progress for us as a church. We are very happy to receive these building materials, and we encourage other leaders to emulate Minister Aceng’s generosity,” she said.
Rwoth also urged women to grow closer to God and strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ, emphasizing the importance of spiritual preparation.
She highlighted the annual Women’s General Conference, also known as “Our Fair Days,” which brings together women from seven districts in Lango sub-region, including Otuke, Kole, Dokolo, Lira Central, Amac, and Amuca.
Pastor Bonny Okello, the leader of Aduku Road SDA Church, welcomed the donation and thanked Dr. Aceng for her support. He stated that the Women’s Day of Prayer event began on Friday, March 1, and will end on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
He said the donation would go a long way toward helping the church develop its infrastructure.
Bonny Otucu, the Assistant Resident City Commissioner (RCC) of Lira, who represented RCC Lawrence Engole, urged Christians to support government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga.
ARCC Otucu emphasized that these programs are intended to lift communities and help individuals escape poverty.
The bags of cement donation follows another generous gesture by Minister Aceng, who last month donated more than sha20 million to Anai Catholic Parish in the Lira Diocese.
Her continued support for religious and community initiatives demonstrates her dedication to promoting development and unity in Lira City and elsewhere, her aide said.
The Sunday service ended with prayers and thanksgiving, as church members and leaders expressed their appreciation for the donation.
The House of God’s leadership has promised to use it to further the church’s mission and community outreach programs.
