Dokolo | The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries (MAAIF) has allocated shs139 million to the Dokolo District under the Climate Smart Agriculture Transformation Project for the fiscal year 2024/2025.
This project aims to improve agricultural productivity, farmers’ livelihoods, and climate resilience throughout the district.
Dr. Richard Enyang, the District Production Officer, confirmed the funding and stated that the project will prioritize key agricultural sectors such as livestock farming, fruit plantations, apiculture (beekeeping), entomology, and general agricultural production.
The five-year project, which runs from 2024 to 2028, is expected to increase value addition and promote sustainable farming practices in the region.
Dr. Enyang revealed that farmers will be required to co-fund the project in order to benefit from it.
The selection process for farmer groups and agricultural enterprises has already been completed in all sub-counties of Dokolo district.
He encouraged farmers to embrace the project with a positive attitude and actively participate in organized groups in order to maximize benefits.
The DPO also encouraged more farmers to form groups in their respective areas to increase access to project support, which aims to alleviate poverty and improve household income.
The Climate Smart Agriculture Transformation Project will fund a variety of developmental activities, including livestock farming in five sub-counties, crop production in ten sub-counties, and apiculture (beekeeping) in ten sub-counties.

The funds will also cover the costs of road construction to improve access to markets and farming communities, the provision of irrigation equipment to assist farmers in mitigating the effects of climate change, and the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices.
Dr. Enyang emphasized the importance of mindset change among farmers, urging them to adopt climate-smart agricultural practices that increase productivity and resilience.
He emphasized that the project’s interventions would be critical to modernizing agriculture and improving food security in the district.
As the project begins, stakeholders and local leaders are expected to work closely with farmers to ensure its success.
The Climate Smart Agriculture Transformation Project is expected to provide long-term economic and environmental benefits to the people of Dokolo district.
