Amolatar |Two people have been confirmed dead as a result of a witch’s ritual allegedly funded by a local resident named Orio Walter.
Orio became angry after losing nine cows to thieves.
Tom Ogwal, chairperson LC3 of Arwotckeck sub-county, said local leaders were unaware of the witch’s presence in the area.
He confirmed that both deceased people were young and that their deaths were related to the witch’s activities.
One of the dead persons has been identified as Eyonga Frederick, also known as “Agege”. He was a boda boda rider.
The LC3 chairperson also reported receiving information about two people allegedly traveling on foot from Lira City and suspected of being involved in the said theft.
He told tndNews that the witch’s ritual has rendered approximately 15 people unconscious, including members of the Ayamawele village council.
Ogwal has asked the community to remain calm, though many wonder how more than fifteen people could be affected at once.
According to reports, Orio asked the witch, whose identity remains unknown, to help identify the thieves after losing his animals.
Fears are that more people could die as a result of the dangerous rituals.
