Renowned gospel artist and radio producer Goddy Omara, popularly known as Goddy Amwoma, has donated two trips of sand and three thousand pieces of bricks to TAQWA Mosque in Alemere, Bung, in a gesture of interfaith solidarity.

The donation, delivered Thursday evening, marks a significant step toward the construction of the mosque, which has been awaiting building materials for months.

Receiving the support, Imam Ibrahim of TAQWA Mosque expressed profound gratitude to Omara, noting that the contribution would enable the congregation to commence construction soon.

“Though Omara Goddy is a Christian, he did not segregate Muslims,” Imam Ibrahim said. “I appeal to fellow Muslims to come out and support us the way Omara has supported us.”

The Imam, however, expressed disappointment with some individuals who had previously pledged support but failed to follow through.

“Most people came with the interest of supporting us, but they just take photos and go off completely,” he lamented.

Amirat Hadijah, a member of the mosque, described the challenges worshippers have faced, particularly during rainy seasons when the current structure offers inadequate shelter.

“We have been suffering a lot during the rainy season,” Hadijah said.

Handing over the donation, Omara, an Anglican, said he feels compelled to support any denomination regardless of religious affiliation.

“Though I am an Anglican, I feel okay to support any denomination,” Omara stated.

The artist appealed to fellow entertainers to support God’s work, emphasising that talent in music comes from God.

He noted that this is not his first time supporting religious institutions, recalling a previous donation to a church in Amwoma, Dokolo.
