Gen. Mugabe gets 3rd term as court martial chairman

Makindye | Brig. Gen Robert Freeman Mugabe, the chairman of the General Court Martial, was sworn in for his third term on Monday.

Gen. Mugabe’s swearing-in comes just a week after President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni reappointed him to the same position.

Sections 197, 198, and 202 of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Act No. 7 of 2005 allow the High Command to appoint members, reserve members, and staff officers to the GCM.

During the swearing-in ceremony on Monday afternoon, Mugabe emphasised the importance of maintaining the highest levels of conduct and teamwork.

He thanked the appointing authority President Museveni for the opportunity to serve the country.

Col. Richard Tukacungurwa, Judge Advocate, presided over the ceremony at Kampala’s Makindye Courthouse.

Col. Sam Ntugura, Maj. Angella Catherine Laker, Capt. Lucy Nicole Etorol, W01 Oyar Boris Mark, W02 Asiimwe Bob, Maj. Cyprian Sande Magezi, and Capt. Christine Sayuni, among others, all took their oaths.
