Pakwach: 4 PDM SACCO leaders arrested over extortion

Pakwach | On Monday June 24, 2024, four people were arrested on allegation of extorting shs1,624,000 from 58 Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries are residents of Pakia parish, Panyango sub-county, Pakwach.

Pakwach’s Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Paul Eseru, said he had gathered sufficient evidence that led to their arrest.

Those arrested include SACCO chairman Okwong Obonyo, secretary Jarao Resto, loan officer Ofoyi Pirwoth and Mukundi Patrick.

The RDC Insists that he will not tolerate this “kind of act” in the district and warns people from joking with PDM.

Across the country, several arrests have been made since the Model was launched.

Dozens have been produced before court while the Model continues to struggle in some parts due to corruption related issues.
