Lira | NRM youth calling themselves carders from Lango have urged Ugandans to support all government programmes, including the Parish Development Model (PDM).

They say President Muesveni’s PDM is his dream of transforming people’s lives and eradicating poverty in the country.

A group of NRM cadres and leaders of some leagues convened in Lira City on May 4, 2024, and they expressed gratitude to Museveni for his trust in them by designating some of them as Assistant RDCs and RCCs.

Silvano Okello of Kakoge in Lira City West Division praised Museveni and called his efforts to move Uganda forward “wonderful”.

“I have witnessed that President Muesveni is a great leader and completely honest, so we have now endorsed him for 2026 because many youths are still struggling with unemployment, which can only be solved by an experienced leader like President Muesveni,” Okello added.

According to Thomas Ongom, cadres who were recently appointed Assistant RDCs and RCCs played an important role in ensuring that the NRM won the general elections in 2011, 2016, and 2021, respectively.

“I now support President Muesveni for another five years to protect the country’s natural resources.”

Meanwhile, Rose Akello, chairperson of the Ayago women’s league in the City East Division, stated that the Assistant RDC role has given her more power and energy to support the NRM government.

Irene Akullu, chairperson of the Women’s League for Railway in Lira City East Division, thanked Muesveni for increasing the number of women in leadership positions.

“I am 65 years old, and Lango NRM cadres still see Mr Muesveni as a strong leader capable of addressing the country’s pressing issues,” Akullu stated.

Patrick Ocen, who was appointed Assistant RDC of Oyam, stated, “I have welcomed this opportunity given to me by the President, and I want to assure the public that I will mobilise people ahead of the 2026 elections.”

Ocen previously served as the chairperson of the Oyam district NRM youth league and the ONC coordinator for Lango.

Others appointed Assistant RDCs alongside Ocen include Isaac Opio Opeo (Amuru), Okot Jonal (Apac), Ayoo Otyek Proscovia (Lira district), Pule Boniface (Amolatar), and Obada Ceaser (Kwania), among others.
