UPDF’s NEC awarded shs39 billion contract for building at Gulu University Constituent College in Moroto

Moroto| The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces’ commercial wing, the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), has been awarded a contract to build a multi-billion multi-purpose building at Gulu University Constituent College in Moroto district.

The Shs39.9 billion project, according to Prof. Openjuru George Ladaah, Vice Chancellor of Gulu University, is a realisation of President Yoweri Museveni’s promise to give students in the Karamoja sub-region a better education.

Tuko Justin, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Moroto district, stated that all compensation and groundwork were completed in the first phase in three consecutive years, paving the way for the project’s start.

The positive move marks the second phase of construction of the first multi-purpose building at a project site located 10 kilometres along the Moroto-Nakapiripirit road, according to Maj Isaac Owere, 3 Division’s Public Information Officer.

According to Major Owere, the college owns more than 7,000 acres of land in the Nanduget sub-county.

Lt Elias Turinomuhangi, the NEC project coordinator, promised to deliver quality work and complete the project within two years.

Following Lira Constituent College (which now has autonomy) as a university, Moroto Constituent College of Gulu University will be the second.
