The owner of Akalo School of Nursing and Midwifery, Akalo Comprehensive Secondary School and Akalo Primary School, Aligi Johnson, has pledged to support children from the Otikokin clan who wish to pursue their education at his schools.

Aligi, who also previously served as an elder in the Otikokin clan leadership, urged parents not to abandon the education of their children because of the increasing cost of school fees.

He encouraged parents to make every effort to send their children to school, saying education remains important in shaping the future of young people and the wider community.

Children should be allowed to study and acquire skills that can help them become self-reliant and contribute to the development of their families and the Otikokin community, he said.

In a gesture aimed at supporting families facing financial challenges, he pledged to provide bursaries to children from the Otikokin clan who enrol at his schools.

He pledged during an Otikokin clan gathering held at Hotel Komar in Uhuru bar, Lira City, where the new Lira Central Division clan leader (Jago) and other clan officials were inaugurated.

The meeting brought together members and leaders of the Otikokin clan to witness the installation of the new leadership and discuss matters concerning the welfare and development of the clan.

The Akalo schools’ boss’s pledge comes at a time when many parents are struggling to meet the cost of education, with school fees and other scholastic requirements remaining a major challenge for families.

The new Otikokin leadership is expected to work with members of the clan and other stakeholders to promote unity, education and development among the community.
