Classic Leaders Foundation, a Kampala-based NGO, has awarded Barapwo primary school’s top performing pupils in primary four to primary seven in 2024.
In addition to a branded school bag filled with exercise books, pens, mathematical sets, water bottles, pencils, files, and certificates, each pupil who placed third in their class received a cash prize of shs200,000.

Parents, teachers, and locals, as well as local leaders, attended the awards ceremony to recognize the pupils’ efforts and dedication.
“We are proud of our pupils for their outstanding achievements,” Boniface Omol, headteacher of the school said.
These awards have fostered competition among pupils, encouraging them to perform well in school and national exams, he added.
According to the head teacher, pupil enrollment has increased to more than 2,000 in 2023 as a result of awards that have enticed parents to bring their children to the school.
Benson Bwambale, Classic Leader Foundation’s national coordinator, stated that the project began in 2023 with a few selected government-run schools.
He stated that the organization for which he works is committed to empowering students and supporting education in Africa. Currently, they are in Uganda.
The program has been running since 2023 and “will continue as long as the organizations can.”
He added that the awards would be given every term to motivate primary learners to work hard.
Award recipient Omici Roland said he was pleased that the Classic Leader Foundation agreed to his proposal to expand the awards to secondary schools and higher education levels, rather than just a select few classes.
Okabo Betty, a parent, stated that the money will assist the family in paying school fees.
