Kole | On April 6, Morish Odongo Aboke wedded his wife with each adult vowing to love each other until death.
Odongo is a regular phone caller on key programs across radio stations in Lango, especially Lira City-based stations.
The wedding was attended by the politicians and some dispatched their representatives.
One who did not attend but sent her team was Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Betty Amongi Ongom, (Oyam South MP).
The Minister urged the wedded couple to love each other and shun third parties in whatever they’re doing.
Her message was read by devotee and aide Jennifer Oleko.
“Marriage matters fall under my supervision. I wanted to give this advice to Morish Odongo Aboke, and his wife to know that there is too much temptation in marriage.
“I’m personally overjoyed and grateful to God for the huge success as Odongo wed,” said the Oyam South MP.
She supported the wedding with shs1m. “I encourage married couples to learn something from Odongo’s wedding. They should also come closer to God by showing theirs the way to move.”
Meanwhile, the former woman MP of Lira district, Joy Atim Ongom also witnessed the wedding. She, however, was also representing Jimmy Akena, Lira City East MP and UPC president.
Ongom thanked friends and well-wishers for being there for the couple and prayed that their marriage shall never experience any form of lack.
She said Akena wanted to assure the people of Kole and the entire Lango that come the 2026 general elections UPC party will sail in every position, starting from the grassroots up to the President.
“We will achieve all our vision,” she said of Akena. “I’m now coming to our home under the ticket of the UPC party. I want to take over from the chairperson of the Lango Parliamentary group Hon. Judith Alyek Odongo.
“…as a leader, I cannot see any development coming out from the incumbent,” said the retired but not tired Ongom.
Kole North MP, Dr Samuel Opio Acuti said: “My messages to the newly wedded couples always are that they must concentrate on their marriage because the devils are moving in all the corners to destroy married couples.”
“Let’s not get the title of wedding only and again we changed our behaviour, we must emphasise what the Bible tells us.
“As a leader, I will use this time to embrace some of the development coming in Kole district. Under the Uganda Road Fund, the district has received over shs1b, and that money was approved by the Parliament. Every district received funds for rehabilitating some of the roads within.”
Out of shs1b, Kole has used over shs318m to rehabilitate a 23km road that connects three sub-counties of Alito, Okwerodot and Aboke.
The rehabilitated road, MP Dr Acuti says starts from Ogwangadar-Barpii. Ayara-Tekeo road rehabilitation has commenced.
“People must know that the oversight is on Ogur-Alito-Aboke road and that rehabilitation is going on at shs297m.
Kole North MP adds they have begun addressing the poor roads by tackling the district roads. “So far, we have used over shs600m on Ogur-Alito-Aboke roads and Ogwangadar-Barpii.

The Archdeacon of Aboke Archdeaconry Rev. Richard Etime blessed the wedding. “I know the transformation power of the vocation to marriage and family when He (God) wrote: the future of humanity passes by way of the family to get the society right.
“One of many challenges to traditional marriage in today’s society is, that there’s less support from our society, there’s increasing fragmentation and individualism. I was in Edinburgh on Saturday to speak on marriage and family life.”
Rev. Etime took his teaching from the Book of Genesis 7-18 which tells about the foundation of marriage.
“I want the wedded couples to always get close to the Church and should allow their children to know where the Church is located,” he said.
According to their research, the Archdeacon says most wedded couples are the ones disorganising the development of the Church.
“Parents, let’s allow our girl’s children to first concentrate on schooling and then get the right man after her study.”
