Museveni drops Gen Elwelu, appoints son Muhoozi CDF

Kampala I On Thursday, March 21, President Museveni started by announcing his “slightly amended cabinet” list and later appointed and promoted army officers to new positions.

One big name was his son – Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba who he appointed the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF).

Muhoozi is the current senior presidential advisor on special operations and the chairman of his pressure group, the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

In a statement, Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye, the defence spokesperson listed other names of the officers Museveni appointed.

Gen Wilson Mbasu Mbadi was moved from CDF to state minister for trade-in Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives.

Lt Gen Peter Elwelu was appointed senior presidential advisor.

Others are Lt Gen Samuel Okiding as the deputy CDF and Maj Gen Jackson Bakasumba has been appointed the Joint Chief of Staff.

Brig Gen David Mugisha was promoted to Major General so was Col Asaph Nyakyikuru to Brigadier General.
