LPG said Tuesday the President is expected to launch the pay by end of February this year.
Lira – February 1, 2022: Lango Parliamentary Group (LPG) executives say they have met with the Attorney General (AG) regarding the long awaited livestock compensation to thousands of claimants in Lango sub-region.
The latest meeting comes nine days after the LPG and selected districts leaders met President Museveni in Oyam district. Museveni had to visit Lango after wider outrage from activists, and leaders (politicians) regarding bad state of Lira-Kamdini road.
In that meeting, a number of issues affecting Lango, many of which Presidential pledges were read to him.
On Lira-Kamdini road, Museveni said government is taking over its reconstruction, adding that all those whose cattle were stolen would be compensated.
As a way of seeing the latter (cattle compensation) is paid, on Tuesday, February 1, LPG General Secretary and Kole North MP, Dr Opio Samuel Acuti gave an update regarding a meeting with the Attorney General, Kiryowa Kiwanuka.
The meeting was also attended by leaders from Teso and Acholi Parliamentary Groups.
LPG statement indicates that only three districts out of 10 in Lango have filed and submitted names of claimants to the government. This totals to 844 claimants.

Apac district has submitted 404, Otuke 228 and 212 from Amolatar districts, respectively.
Districts such as Dokolo, Kole, Alebtong, Lira, Lira City, Oyam and Kwania are yet to comply. This process is to be supervised by the office of the Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs).
“All persons who appear on the Attorney General list to be compensated. In Lango, this includes the 18,469 names that were approved and the 23,575 names that were omitted totaling to 42,042 beneficiaries,” LPG statement released on Tuesday reveals.
“The President is expected to officially launch the payment exercise by end of February or early March 2022 .All MPs and District leaders to be invited for the launch,” according to LPG.
