For twenty good years, the Lango sub-region has not had political leadership willing to serve with a purpose and account for their responsibilities, Queen Dorothy Amolo, Ugandan-American businesswoman says.
Now fully back in the political arena of Uganda and Lango, Queen Dorothy says that for Lango to move forward, the sub-region needs her leadership and clear direction.
She has promised more than developing the sub-region, but also setting herself to be a leader who listens to the people and brings services and opportunities closer to them.
Nominated on October 22 as a candidate for Oyam South MP in the forthcoming election, Queen says her focus is beyond Oyam South or the district. She’s interested in waking up the entire Lango.
“We have leaders who have failed Lango for the last twenty years. What they have not done is many,” she says at a press conference on Sunday, November 2, in Lira City.
These leaders, she told the press conference, have been sitting on the services and development from the central government. “They have taken part in sharing funds which should have supported the wananinchi. Look at the state of health facilities.”
Instead of these leaders lobbying for hospitals and better healthcare, they are not doing it at all. “They have sat down, services are not coming, they are just eating and as Lango we have assembled our heads as they (the leaders) eat and we see them.”
On education and how many schools in Lango have been performing lately, Queen states that education is “not a key to success” for the learners because “the padlock is changed.” “We as Lango do not have the key – other regions have got their keys to open the box to success.”
As she offers herself to be the available and a pro-people political leader for Lango, Amolo promises to offer “new ideas to steer the sub-region to a new vision – not an old one.”
“I want to try with all my capabilities to end corruption in Lango by investigating where money for services and development is hidden.”
She vows to advocate for Lango, first of all to elect MPs who will truly represent them. “I will rally them (every eligible voter) to separate desire for money and representation and elect Members of Parliament who will have the ability and zeal to speak for the people and the sub-region.”
Using her own resources, Amolo announces holding mega political rallies across Lango were politicians, especially MP candidates will be mandated to speak boldly in English about their agenda.
Exposing them….
Queen also promises to publicly expose leaders who have not been accountable to the people who elected them. “I will release what each has done. People will hate me for it – it will be hot. But, I am tired. If you want to hate me, hate me.”
Watch her say more.
