Three suspected cattle thieves killed in Omoro

 Omoro – 17, December 2021: Three suspected cattle thieves were beaten to death by the locals in Arek village, Lackawanna sub-county, Parwece parish in Omoro district. The killing happened on Wednesday.

The incident happened at around 1900hrs. According to brief facts, the victims were found loaded with two bulls on a pickup vehicle registration number UAG 557/Y.

The mob [locals] suspected it [the vehicle] to be transporting stolen cows; two were killed and another was badly injured.

Deceased and survivors were identified as Michael Obita and Oringa Rashid. The injured suspect, including another deceased could not be identified.

Both of them are adults who are all residents of Omoro district.

Lakwana police post in Omoro is following the case vide CRB562/2021. The survivors were later transferred to Gulu Central Police Station.

ASP Ongom David Mudong who is the Public Relation Officer Aswa River Region said the police action led by AIP Obonga Daniel and team of detectives rushed to the scene of crime.

Ongom confirmed that three dead bodies were taken for postmortem.

“The vehicle and the cows were impounded and brought to the station, no arrest was yet made as everyone had run away. Serious inquiries have commenced. More to be followed, the mobs are being hunted to face the Court,” he added.

“Desist from taking someone’s life recklessly,” added Ongom, condemning individuals involved.
