Uganda Police Force has come out to say attack on President Museveni’s motorcade in Arua Municipality on Monday by wrong elements in opposition was done twice.
Speaking on Tuesday morning to the journalists, Emilian Kayima, the Police spokesperson says the president’s motorcade was attacked by crowd, adding that one of the lead cars was smashed.
He says the incident on the person of the president’s cars happened when the Head of State was leaving Arua Boma grounds after campaigning for NRM candidate, Tiperu Nusura.
“The intervention to calm down this situation resulted into one person being shot by a stray bullet but the situation was managed after,” SSP Kayima added.
Following that, he says more than 30 people have so far been arrested including some political actors.
NTV Uganda journalists – Herbert Zziwa and Ronnie Mwanga were also allegedly beaten by security forces before they were arrested and whisked away to Arua Central Police Station – from where they both slept in cold night.
However, the two journalists were released on police bond on Tuesday
“We’ve only registered one death,” Kayima noted, adding: “When President Museveni was going to Boma grounds for the final rallies, he was met by a tractor that had the red ribbons. When leaving the grounds, he was again met with Hon. Wadri’s supporters. Can you say this is a coincidence? Let’s look at the facts first before we allocate blame.”

Meanwhile, Police spokesperson also says the car in which Bobi Wine’s driver Yasin Kawuma was shot dead from is not for the Lawmaker.
Mr Kayima stated that there was no authoritative announcement from MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine that the car was his, adding g that the ongoing investigations will reveal the truth.
