Arsenal sacks physio Colin Lewin, Bould, Lehmann to stay

Transition at Arsenal is getting shocking and surprising after a number of Arsene Wenger’s aides are being sacked.

And after Arsene Wenger ended his almost 22 reign as Arsenal boss on Sunday, Arsenal’s players and staff are ‘stunned and upset’ by the club’s decision to sack physio Colin Lewin this week, according to reports.

Colin, 44, was informed on Monday morning that his services were no longer required by North London Club.

Lewin, whose official title is head of medical services, has been with Arsenal for 23 years.

According to the BBC, the decision regarding Lewin’s departure was entirely unexpected and has left many of Arsenal’s players and staff ‘stunned and upset’.

Lewin had played a vital role throughout Arsene Wenger’s reign at Arsenal.

Lewin is not the only departure from the backroom team this summer as first-team coach Neil Banfield is also leaving.

Banfield has been with the club for more than 20 years, while goalkeeping coach Gerry Peyton, fitness coach Tony Colbert and equipment manager Paul Johnson are also leaving.

Wenger’s trusted first-team coach Boro Primorac is also on his way out as per reports in England.

Steve Bould and Jens Lehmann have both been asked to stay on, although their future could change depending on who replaces Wenger as manager.
